PATENT

The research of Prof. Veijo Virsu has recently resulted in a new test battery called RIS (Rate of Information Segregation), in which brief periodic stimuli are used for estimating the highest frequency at which an individual can segregate spatially separate and perceptually identified events (flashes, clicks, skin indentations, electric shocks) sequentially within and between various sensory modalities. A patent to the method and apparatus implementing it has been granted in the U.S.A. (Virsu, V. & Salminen, S. (1998) Method and apparatus for measuring the working condition of the brain with periodic stimuli. United States Patent Number 5,746,205).
